She furthered her education, obtaining degrees in Film and Digital Media Production from Loyola University Chicago and a Master's degree in Film Directing from California College of the Arts. "I was inspired to write 'Taboo and Impurity' by my own experiences growing up in Congo and my academic studies under Dr. Meghan Dougherty," says Iboumbi.
